Safety Tips

Adventure safely in the lake city

  • Book paragliding only with licensed operators — check for CAAN certification and insurance
  • Phewa Lake has no lifeguards — wear a life jacket when boating, especially in monsoon
  • Sarangkot road is steep and narrow — take a taxi at night; don’t walk the mountain road after dark
  • Lakeside is very safe but watch for motorbikes on the narrow pedestrian-heavy streets
  • Use Pathao or InDrive apps for fair taxi fares — especially to/from the tourist bus park
  • Power cuts are less common now but carry a headlamp/power bank, especially in budget lodges
  • Water quality is better than Kathmandu but still drink bottled/filtered water
